Comment: I stumbled upon this beautiful tribute to Warren. I, too, recall Warren from his time as a bass player and singer in Emergency Exit. I was in awe of his talents; unfortunately I never got to know him personally. But when I think back to the "old days" in San Diego (wow! I hadn't heard anyone mention El Cajon Police dances or The Infinity in a long time) I always remember his delivery and his voice. I was saddened to hear of his passing but at the same time heartened to hear that his talent as a singer was only surpassed by his kindness and love for so many. It's moving to see so many love and remember him.

Comment: It's 4 a.m. and I couldn't sleep. I got to thinking about the Kings and the Stanley Cup run in 1993. And I was trying to remember the name of "that guy",that good luck charm of a great anthem singer they employed to get the crowd and themselves ready to do battle. "Wayne something...no..your thinking of Gretzky...something like that though.." I knew their would be no sleep till I figured it out. After a brief search..up pops Warren Wiebe! "That's it,that's him!" And then I really start to remember what a great voice I thought he had. At the time, I was a lead singer in a local L.A. band trying to make it, like thousands others in the L.A. area, and I remember how my bandmates and I, all big Kings fans, used to marvel at what a great singer Warren was! And when he did "America the Beautiful" one couldn't help but wonder why that song was not our national anthem and why Warren wasn't drafted by the government to sing it everywhere! Very sorry to hear of his passing, but happy to stumble upon this site, and see all the love that he obviously inspired! Now if you'll excuse me,now that I'm wide awake, I'm gonna go check out what Warren's got going on youtube! Thanks----Roger

Comment: I miss him at every Kings game. He was so very approachable and so very nice. His voice is missed, but he is missed so much more. It has taken me this long to tell of my loss. I wish I could say it's because I was unaware, but it is only because I couldn't really face his loss. I'm sure I will still look for him. I always do. I want so very much for him to find the happiness that he couldn't in life. I will continue to speak to you during games and will think of you fondly.

Comment: Happy birthday "Velvet Rain Man" wherever you may be... I think calling him the greatest singer of all time is odd just because he's unknown to many. I hope this year on the tenth anniversary of his passing they finally release the Warren Wiebe tribute album that we've long been waiting for.

Comment: I met Warren in junior high school around 1967. Soon after we were in a band called Mankind. Warren as lead singer, Ed Watt lead guitar, Dana Fischer bass and I played the drums. Warren would often praise my drum playing. Warren lived about a block from me. I would often get a ride to school with Warren and his mom. Even that far back in time around 1967 Warren could sing and I mean sing like a pro. Warren was born with a gift to sing. The band was together around 3 or 4 years. We played a lot of gigs, high school dances, partys, car shows and the like. We were way to young to play the clubs, but we were good enough to. We played in a few battle of the bands and did very well, winning a couple of them. Many of the bands we were in competition with were a lot older than we were. When peolpe heard Warren sing they would be blown away. After Mankind disband sometime in 1970 I lost contact with Warren for around 10 years. One day he showed up at my house and asked how I was doing and if I was still playing the drums. When I said no he said that's to bad you were a natural. I take that as high praise from a man with so much talent. It is a real shame that Warren was not discovered 10 or 15 years before he was. Thanks to David Foster the world had the chance to see and hear one of the greatest singers of all. I had some of the best times in my life when we played in a band together. I will always remember my friend Warren Wiebe. Ted Karl

Comment: My one and only association with Warren comes through the Voices that Care. His voice has haunted me for years for its purity that speaks, seemingly, directly to your soul. I am absolutely bereft to have learned within the last five minutes that Warren had passed. He will be missed and what a talent lost. He had true talent and I am just so sad. God bless you Warren and my condolences to your family.

Comment: I discovered this man and his voice only a year age.(In fact I noticed a voice back when I bought River of Love many years ago, but I had forgotten that). And I felt his voice went straight to my heart.I`m a singer and songwriter that recently have releases my first solo-album My Corner. His singing is a tremendes inspiration for me, and I often listen to the few recordings that I have and get more of it.And sometimes I feel the presence of a soul when I listen.I choose to think that it`s his soul coming throught. Thanks
